The Rübelandbahn between Blankenburg andKönigshütte in the Harz Mountains. The passenger train has just emerged from the Krumme Grube tunnel is crossing the Krockstein Viaduct, 99m long and 29m high, before entering the Nebelholz tunnel just before the Halt at Neuwerk.
This standard gauge railway carried both freight and passengers until the latter service was terminated at the end of 2005. Here one of the unique UK system 25kV AC – 50Hz electric locomotives crosses the viaduct over the Bode near Rubeland. DR Personenzug carriages are in use, unlike the smart express liveried variants here albeit in Deutsche Bahn times. 15 original (of which 10 remain in various places) class 171 electric locomotives operated passenger services on the line until 30 August 2000 (the Elbingerode – Königshütte section was abandoned in May 1999) and goods until 2004. Since that date, diesel locomotives of several operators have been used on the heavy mineral traffic from the Harz mountains.The yellow village sign marks the end of Neuwerk village.On 16th January 2009, the electricity was turned back on for a test run with a class 185 locomotive, and from 18th April 2009 a regular electric service resumed
